<a href="#13">What is there to do in the warm cave, south of Birmington?</a></b></center>
<br><br><br><br>
<b><i>Answers:</i></b><br><br>
<ul>
<li><a name=1>The bandit lair is to the southeastern corner of the valley Birmington is in. It is hidden, and will stay that way, until you talk to Mayor Pinochet.</a>
<li><a name=2>The small temple is actually quite evil- it is an illusion, by a Rakshasa. If you attempt to sleep in the bed, you will be devoured. If you eat the stew, the searing acids will destroy your stomach. Praying to the altar heals you, but at the same time, reduces your intelligence by 1. Rather, destroy the altar. You are now trapped, and must fight the Rakshasa. However, a portcullis opened in a secret passage to the north, and you may now rest in the bed.</a>
<li><a name=3>Haste and bless yourself, before this fight! When you do, many spells become valuable, like Charm Foe, Fireball or Wound. They only have 30 HP, so good luck!</a>
<li><a name=4>You fall through, because it's a trap! If you fell through the trap, then fight through to the room in the north. If you take the stairs, then head north and west to the same location. From there, head west, and fight a few brigands in a bedroom. Go south into the hallway, and west. A mage will summon some aid, and fight you. Search the walls by the potted plant, and pull the lever at the end of that passage.</a>
<li><a name=5>The ambush is difficult. Summoning and field spells help, here. Either way, fleeing is an option. But killing the mage helps!</a>
<li><a name=6>Marx's Lair is north of Birmington, in a cave. Speak to Pinochet, and he will reveal it to you.</a>
<li><a name=7>The final battle is difficult. <b><a href="#10">Killing Lenin</a></b> helps, as does doing other quests. If you met Pinochet's son and wife before the final battle, then it becomes infinitely easier, on the last phase. Sleep Cloud helps.</a>
<li><a name=8>There's a blasted area in the northeastern corner, which hasn't been sealed up. From there, head west to the Mess Hall. As you enter, the leader will flee. Head south, and he'll be in the meeting room.</a>
<li><a name=9>The runes will not let you in, until the first encounter with Marx and his henchmen.</a>
<li><a name=10>To find Leningrad, enter the hut south of Birmington. Enter the room in the center, and slay Lenin. From there, go to the library in the northwestern corner. There's a hidden passage on the western wall of the northernmost row, which has a key inside. Take it, and open the secret passage on the southern wall, in the northeastern room. Beyond the secret passage is Lenin's bedroom. Read what's in his dresser, and then enter the southeastern room, and check the table. Enter the southwestern room, and place the key in the hidden spot of the pedestal. Leningrad will appear.</a>
<li><a name=11>There is various treasure here, and just a bunch of miscellaneous rooms. In the center is a pentagram, which will activate a portal, if you figure it out. There is also an artifact in here.</a>
<li><a name=12>There's already a Wand of Binding on each of the surrounding runes, save one. The Rakshasa in the bandit lair drops the final Wand of Binding upon death. If you have it, place it on the last rune, and a portal will appear, to a mysterious and hidden place...</a>
<li><a name=13>In the warm cave, there are two small skirmishes in a tunnel, and then there is a final fight with a Drake in an evil temple. This fight should be extremely easy. Put the Drake to sleep, and cut it down. There is a secret passage in the northeastern corner with some look. You will also get a 'Drakeskin' special item. The blacksmith in town will convert these into fire-resistant Drakeskin Pants, for a minimal fee.</a>
</ul><br><br><br>
<a name=walkthrough><h1 align=center><b><i><u>Walkthrough</u></i></b></h1></a><br>
<b>Getting Started</b><br><br>
You will start in the small town of Birmington. Enter the city hall, and Mayor Pinochet will tell you to search out a Bandit lair to the southeast. While you're in city hall, talk to Manny and Elizabeth, for a while. This is the one far to the southeast. If you are in an adobe hut, then you are in the right place. From here, enter the temple, on the west side. Oddly enough, it seems like a quaint place. Do <i>not</i> eat the stew, take a nap, or pray to the altar. Try to destroy the altar, and you will discover the 'quaint' little altar is actually a decrepit, evil shrine, ran by a Rakshasa. Kill the Rakshasa, and search for a secret passage at 19,28 and another at 16,26. The portcullis have opened. Follow the passage into an enclosed room, filled with trophies. Look at one, and prepare for an extremely difficult combat. When you are through, run through the door on the eastern wall. Disarm the three traps. The third isn't a trap you have to disarm- but no matter what, a wall will open, revealing a Spectre. Slay it, and then brigands will reveal themselves to you, a few more paces down the hallway. Slay them, and rather than trying to enter the meeting hall, go east into the brigand chambers. If you are so inclined, there is a loot room here. The chest itself will blow up in your face, but a stairway will be revealed in its place. Climb down it, and you'll find some loot. Go back to the first floor. There is a stairway at 35,32. Climb down it, and go through the passage north, and west. There are a few brigands here, slay them. Go through the door on the south wall, and down the passage, west. A mage there will summon a few ogres. Slay them, and search the secret passage at 5,12. Follow that passage, and the walls will slam into you, and dissapear, revealing a few Cave Rats. It's still an easy fight, but make sure one doesn't kill you when you only have 0HP remaining. Pull the lever to the south, and go back upstairs, and back to where the Meeting Hall is. The floor will not fall through. Enter the room, and you will find your first encounter with Marx.<br><br>
<b>Marx and You</b><br><br>
In this battle, all three of Marx's henchmen will attack you. Marx himself will teleport out. But don't worry about slaying all three of the henchmen- when you slay one, the rest teleport out. This is good, because you will need all of the strength you can muster. Enter the portal, and you will be ambushed. I suggest you flee, unless you summon many creatures, or have decent bruisers. It's a difficult fight. From there, return to Birmington. The first thing you will notice is that Marx has unleashed an Ursag onto the city! Help the guards ward it off. When it is slain, Marx will teleport into Pinochet's library! Run into the city hall, and Marx will set City Hall on fire! You will find yourself lying in the inn. Go to where City Hall used to be, and Pinochet will be quiet and solemn. He will tell you where to find Marx. Go north, and into Marx's lair. Or whatever it is. Investigate the house. In the eastern bedroom, search the dresser. The other two encounters are indicated by white dots. After that, the northernmost door will unlock, revealing a small, underground river, and a boat. Take the boat east, and prepare for the final fight...
<b>The Finale</b>
Row the boat onto the small strip of land, and follow it forward. If you have Leningrad, it will ignite in flames, now. This weapon is now extremely powerful! Enter the small opening at the end, and Engels will teleport in. If you slew Lenin, then Putin will join you. If Lenin is still alive, Putin will teleport in, but Lenin will kill him. When both Lenin and Engels are dead, Marx teleports in. If you met his wife and son, he will give you an option to join him or not. If you did not meet either, you must fight Marx. If you join Marx, then Pinochet teleports in. He also knows that you are allied to Marx. Marx and you (and possibly Putin, if he is still alive) will then fight Pinochet. After Pinochet is dead, Marx will reunite with his son, and give you 500 gold, as well as a protection amulet. If you did not join Marx, Pinochet teleports in, when you kill Marx. Pinochet gives you 1000 gold. Congratulations, you beat Bandits!<br><br><br>

Version 1.0
by Terror's Martyr
=================================================================
Once again, after ten years, you return to Birmington. This prosperous, resource-filled vale brings back memories... It was here where you came, after recieving a faded ad, ten years ago. You still keep the old parchment as a souvenier. You were told to see Mayor Pinochet, as to recieve a mission for 1,000 gold. You took the ad with you, and set out for this tiny little city. After a few days of journeying, you made it into this small, quaint little town. You walked into the now-ruined building to the northwest, which was at one point the home of Mayor Pinochet. He gave you a mission to slay some bandits, which turned out to be quite a quest...
FILES INCLUDED:
* bandits2.bmp
This is the graphics file for PC users. Place it in the "BLADSCEN" folder.
* bandits2.exs
This is the scenario itself. Place it in the "BLADSCEN" folder for PC users or the "Blades of Exile Scenarios" folder for Macs.
* bandits2.gif
This is the graphics file for PC users in case bandits2.bmp does not work. When you use it, however, you must first convert it into bitmap format. Most graphic editors such as Photoshop or MSPaint can do that. Place it in the same folder as bandits2.exs
* bandits2.meg.sit
This is the graphics file for Mac users. Use Stuffit to unstuff this file, and place the .meg file that is unstuffed into the same folder as bandits2.exs
* bandits2README.txt
This is the file you are reading right now.
* bandits2Walkthrough.doc
This is the walkthrough. It can be opened by most versions of Microsoft Word. (I opted not to use Adobe Pagemaker because while it is better, it's used by less people. If you can't open the Word file, just email me and I'll send you a txt file.)

The files included in this scenario are:
Bladesman Scilt.sit
This is the custom, 1PC party intended for use in this scenario. This is for Mac users. Un-stuff the file and use it to play the scenario with.
corporus.exs
The scenario file. Drag this into your Blades of Exile Scenarios folder.
corporus.gif
The graphics file, in case corporus.meg do not work. To use this file, open up corporus.gif in Picture Viewer, Preview, or any painting/viewing application. Copy the image, open up ResEdit*, and paste the image. Open up the PICT resource, select the picture you just pasted, and hit command-I. Set the ID of the resource to 1.
corporus.meg.sit
The graphics file for Mac users. Use UnStuff (or any decompression application capable of decompressing .sit files), and drag the newly-created corporus.meg file into your Blades of Exile Scenarios folder.
corporus.txt
The text file you are reading right now!
eyeinthesky.mid
The metaphorical implications of including a music file with this scenario are immense. This song is a MIDI file version of Eye in the Sky by the Alan Parsons Project, and is encouraged but by no means required while playing this scenario.
PCs.gif
PCs2.gif
These files are the two CUSTOM PC SHEETs used in Corporeus. Open the file Blades of Exile Graphics in the Blades of Exile Scenario Editor with ResEdit* and open the PICT resource. Scroll down to resources 902 and 905 and either delete them or rename them to something else for future use. Paste in both images- PCs.gif and PCs2.gif. Select the resource you pasted in from PCs.gif and hit command-I. Rename its ID to 902. Do the same to the resource you pasted in from PCsMac2.gif, except naming its ID to 905.
* ResEdit is a utility that ALL Mac users should have! It can be found here:
http://developer.apple.com/tools/legacy.html
http://www.mac.org/utilities/resedit/
http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/2037
It allows you to create, open and edit .meg files, which is the filetype used for graphics in Blades of Exile.

This scenario has no real walkthrough. It is, in essence, a one-way trip through a short story transposed to Blades of Exile. This scenario is deeply symbolic and makes no real attempts to adhere to any sort of "normal" reality; it challenges this notion in its very essence. On the other hand, I tried my hardest to make the symbols obvious to the player. Even if you don't come to the conclusion I intended when I made this scenario, I encourage you to attempt to find your own meaning out of it nevertheless. This is a folly- an exercise of art in Blades, leaving the pre-conventional notions of scenario design. I hope you enjoy my folly, and I appreciate any feedback, criticisms or comments about my scenario. Thanks for playing!

<b><i>You heard of a small, as of yet unnamed valley someplace near the cold, inhospitable reigions of Dragon's Nest. It is amazing the area has done so well in the realms of ground fertility. However, you have also heard rumors that a few small religious uprisings are taking place in the vale. Who knows? Perhaps you could walk into the vale, join one of the groups, and maybe make a difference. Maybe.<br><br>
<h4 align=center><a name="starting">Getting Started</a></h4><br>
In the Echoes folder, you will find various files. These are:<br>
<ul>
<li>echoes.exs<br>
This is the scenario itself. Move it into the Blades of Exile Scenarios folder.
<li>echoes.gif<br>
If for some odd reason the megformac.sit doesn't work, I've included a .gif you can make the .meg out of. For PC users, convert this .gif into a .bmp before playing.
<li>megformac.sit<br>
This is a stuffed file for the .meg file. Unstuff it and drag the echoes.meg into the Blades of Exile Scenarios folder. Why did I stuff it? Zipped-only megs never seem to work. :(
<li>part1.mid<br>
This is a MIDI file suggested, though not required for paly during Part 1 of Echoes.
<li>part2.mid<br>
This is a MIDI file suggested, though not required for paly during Part 2 of Echoes.
<li>Readme.html<br>
This is the file you are looking at now!
<li>imgs<br>
This is a folder with the images this readme accesses.
</ul><br>
To play Echoes, a party of levels 25-35 is reccomended. If you are less experienced (around level 15), there should be some challenges in the northwestern mountains to get some small ammounts of treasure and experience, as well as a very convenient Sylvian training dungeon some place southwest of Spearhead where a whopping 590 EXP and loads of treasure are available, not counting experience gained by the kills themselves. It's a very valuable resource. There is also a drake cult encounter with ample experience.<br><br><br><br><br><br><br>
<div align=center><h3><i><a name="hints">Hints</a></i></h3></div>
<b><i>In Echoes, almost the entire scenario is large battles and tactical struggles. A player who breezes through will be slaughtered. There is also a lack of direction in a few points in the scenario, though much of the scenario is action-oriented. A few hints have been listed below to help you out:<br>
<ul>
<li>When you start, the main point is to join a group, and perhaps build up skills and treasure if you're so inclined.
<li>No matter which group you join, something interesting will happen and the world around you will change dramatically. Be sure to investigate, that should give you an idea on how to play this scenario.
<li>In Jonah's Lair, there is more than just what it seems. Search carefully around the lair of the Ursagi for hints
<li>Some shops close within a few days of the start of the scenario, and some change after you join a side. Scrounge about in the beginning of the game to find some good deals.
<li>When entering this scenario, make sure your party can do damage in all elements, and you have reliable magi and fighters. No one strategy will work in any one point in this scenario.
<li>In this scenario, there will be a few isolated encounters where you will have to send in one character, and there will be battling. In these situations, make sure your one character can do damage ranged and physical, has lots of HP, lots of potions, and preferably a few scrolls and wands if he's a fighter.
<li>Never neglect archery in this scenario! It becomes extremely valuable in many situations, when enemies are invulnerable to magic and range becomes necessary.
<li>In large battles, have lots of potions. The boss you're fighting isn't always the last step on the flight of stairs. When fighting a boss, staying alive is always important, but make sure you're prepared to fight at least 2 more.
<li>In larger battles, usually the boss is the key to slaying the creatures around you. If you are overwhelmed in a fight, as you should be, aim for the boss and hopefully the others around you will die.
<li>Antimagic clouds take out every spell around you except for special spells. Send a warrior in and surround him in antimagic, and you should do fine.
</ul></i></b><br><br><br><br><br><br><br>
<div align=center><h3><i><a name="walkthrough">Walkthrough</a></i></h3></div>
<b><i>In this scenario, there are 3 ways to start, and 1 way to end. There are 5 sects in this vale, and you can join 3 of them in Echoes. I will go through their paths individually.<br><br><br>
<h4>Fire Keepers</h4>
To be a Fire Keeper, travel east of Sunshine, follow the road east of Vercimer, and north, hugging the lava river. You will reach a small ferry. Take it to the island, and enter Spearhead. Tell the guards you wnat a pass when you enter, and you will be taken to a waiting room. Hold the "w" key down, because you'll be waiting for quite some time. When the demon attacks, kill it. Go into the office, and accept the officials offer. You will be taken to the end of the lava river. Go up the mountain, and watch the cinematic sequence. Go out of the little cave, and follow the pathway north. If you go south, the scenario will end with a minor fight with illithids and a portal out. If you proceed north, this guy will prod you to go away for a while, then he will attack. Slay him and visit the temple. Go straight east and sit on the throne, then go straight back west and you'll be taken to Sunshine. Kill everyone and leave. To finish, see "General Ending".<br>
<h4>Wind Keepers</h4>
To be a Wind Keeper, go east of Sunshine and visit Vercimer. Go into the fortress, and talk to the priest. Accept his mission, and visit the inn. Then, find a secret passage in one of the store rooms, and follow the road west until you get a message. Follow the gravel and it will show you a secret passage in the fortress walls. Kill the bandits that ambush you, then save the fortress from siege by keeping the guards alive and killing all of the attackers. Talk to the priest again, and you will be told to go on a Sabatical Run. Fight through 32 grueling Mountain Worg outdoor encounters, and when you're through, you will be on the final ascent. Search the caverns in the mountain until you find a rope, and kill the worgs that ambush you. Use the rope to climb up the cliff, then search the caverns in the mountains for a long rope. Kill the haakai, get the rope, and climb up the cliff to the Wind Bascillica. Go to the northern end of the Bascillica, enter the small chapel, and pray to the statue. Go west to the area with 3 portals, and enter them and watch the cinematic sequences. Go upstairs then, and enter the area with the mats. Kneel, and you will recieve a message. Enter the portal, and approach the Wind Pope. Watch the Interrogator and Wind Pope fight, then accept the Interrogator's offer. If you do not, slay him, then the scenario ends. If you accept his offer, slay the illithids, then search for secret passages and find your way into the portal leading out. To finish, see "General Ending".
<h4>Forest Keepers</h4>
To be a Forest Keeper, visit Tituania and talk to the Forest Keepers in the fortress. Ask about joining, and enter the portal. Enter the Wind Tower, and when you're finished becoming a Wind Keeper, go south to the lab and listen to the 2 magi argue. One of them will charm you, and you will sit in the chair. Enter the city, then enter the barracks, then enter the mage institute, then leave. As you're leaving, a mysterios figure will ask you if you are a believer. If you say you are, you die. If you say you are not, you will be taken to a cave. Walk south, and the person who entered the throne will have to fight a little squabble alone, then leave and you will be outside of the Forest Keeper area. To finish, see "General Ending".
<h4>General Ending</h4>
After you are finished with your encounter joining any of the sides, go investigate Sunshine (this is already done for you if you are Fire Keeper), Black Spire and Vercimer. Tituania and Spearhead have changed too, but they aren't important. After the Mysterious Figure tells you to, go to the northeastern mountains area of the vale and the wall will open up and you will enter a cave. Slay the Mysterious Figure, and leave to the east. Enter the cave you find, and use move mountains to destroy the barriers. Go into the structure, and slay the illithids. Go west into the hallway, and go south. Slay the archmage, and then go back into the structure where you entered and head north. Go into the ruins and past the ramparts, and head west. Select your strongest party member, and send him across the river. Fight off the beats, and enter the portal to the north. Slay the gates, and enter the ruined temple. Slay the altar, and you will be rejoined with your party. Leave the cave, and hug the mountains. Enter the cave, and you will be near the Illithid Citadel. Enter the citadel, and go to the western end of the western guard tower and pull the lever in the center. Go to the eastern end of the eastern guard tower, and pull the lever. Go north to the citadel, and enter. Go east into the Hell Hound corall, then search the west wall for secret passages. Enter the north-easternmost pen (the runes can be walked through at many points) and search the northern wall for secret passages. Then, search the western wall for secret passages. Walk through the barriers, and sit in the chair. Watch the cinematic sequence, and kill the lever afterwards. Go east into the hallway, then south into the meeting room. Search the southwestern corner for secret passages, then talk to the speaking wall. Any answer will disable the runes, but a specific one will get you a reward, and a specific one gets you killed. You probably won't guess either. Go around the corner, and the rune will dissapear. Enter the treasure chamber and take the keys. Go back to the meeting room, then use the keys in the keyhole. Then go back into the hallway and go east into the prison. Use the keyhole to unlock the gates, and the easternmost cell has a crumbling wall. Use that to get access to a living quarters, which leads into the lava river and the docks. Go to the docks and take a boat. Use that boat to sail back to the hall where you started, then head north and into the area where you saw the cinematic sequence. Walk to the stairs, and go up to the final floor. Kill the final boss, then you've won! Congratulations.</i></b><br><br><br><br><br><br><br>

<font color=white><b>
Due to the unique action-based nature or <u>Echoes: Assault</u>, similar to <u>An Apology</u> in a few respects, the scenario is based more around going through tight situations and you are pretty much held by the hand as you go through. The parts you might need help on, however, are listed below:
<br><br>
<li>When defending Earthford, take out the cannons, dragons, and Passive Illithids. In the first wave, the rest will retreat after you take out the cannons and Passive Illithid.
<li>Never forget your special spells! There are many places where you lose, die, or are stuck for a while when you don't cast your spells. Most of them are necessary throughout the game, one of them can make things easier in a boss battle when used.
<li>This scenario can be finished, but it can also be won. Both are difficult, and in fact finishing might be more difficult in some aspects, but search each area you encounter carefully, especially when there doesn't seem to be any pressing force making you go places.
<li>Search around for treasure. In many places, there is a spellbook or two, or perhaps some potions. All are quite valuable, considering the difficulty of this scenario.
</ul><br>
On a final note, I wish you the best of luck. It'll be needed.

To be placed in the hall of fame, email me at <a href="mailto:terrorsmartyr@wi.rr.com">terrorsmartyr@wi.rr.com</a>, and describe with fair detail how you won. Remember, this scenario can be <u>won</u>, or it can be just <u>finished</u>. Winning takes much more effort, and you will be told when you have won. Good luck getting into the hall of fame! I would feel I was cheating some important people if I didn't list them here, so here are the people who made this scenario possible:<br><br>
My beta-testers, who found heaps of errors in the many parts of the scenario I wrote in 2AM:
<ul>
<li>The Talking Spider, aka Morgan Wild, who gave many comments about the game.
<li>Imban, who despite being too lazy to make a prefab party, offered valuable help in creature balancing (however <u>ungodly late</u> his reports were).
<li>Brett Bixler, who gave many suggestions and helped this scenario immensely.
<li>Glynn Reaper, who while not a tester, made the prefab PC party for General Boston.
<li>LightningExiled, who unfortunately could not test due to a major hard drive error or something of the like, but I guess I'll put her up here anyway.
<li>Iambobsushi, who was a valuable aid in betatesting, however odd some of his comments were. :P
<li>Desperance, for providing ample inner jokes to insert into the scenario.
<li>You, for playing. I hope you enjoy this, and send sincere feedback.
</ul><br>
And here, I've listed the people who did my custom graphics and which ones they did:

HINTS
=====
Q: This scenario is hard! Where can I find ways to make it easier?
A: After you slay the Hyperion General, there will be powerful mage spells available in King's Wildpoint, and The Interrogator will be a bit south of the entrance to Fort Lamprey- he has some powerful aid, as well as knowledge of a bonus dungeon. Talk to him. You can even buy items that increase skills! The priest in King's Wildpoint will also give you Revive. And be sure to check with Kazaros. Towards the end of the game, he has the spells Divine Thud and Protection available- these will help you greatly.
Q: I'm in the Hyperion Vault, and I can't figure out how to beat the Hyperion Lich!
A: To beat the Hyperion Lich, you must first dispense of his servants and some-forth. The first is a powerful Demolich. To get rid of him, check the barrel. Then, fire a flame spell at him- the explosives will detonate, anniahlating him. You will then have to fight 4 Hyperion Imps, but not to worry- a PC with Protection will be fine. When you slay all 4 Imps, the Hyperion Lich will attack personally. BE WARNED! This is not his final form. He is vulnerable to most spells, though. When you kill him, he will turn into a Pyrolich. Slay him as a Pyrolich, and the treasure will be revealed.
Q: I'm in the Hyperion Vault, and I can't figure out how to beat the Ninja Golem!
A: First, visit nthe northwestern room. Pick up some explosives, then place them on the runes nearby. Then, detonate the explosives, with a fire spell. Inside, there will be a journal. Read the journal, then search the bookshelves. Step on the stone bridge leading to the golem. It will still be a tough fight, but it will be beatable.
Q: I'm in the Hyperion Vault, and I can't figure out how to beat the Evil Altar!
A: Kill the 8 pillars surrounding it. When you do, you have 3 turns to look at the altar. When you do, select 'pray', and you've won. Sit in the throne to get your prize.
WALKTHRU
========
You will start out in your quarters in Fort Lamprey. Feel free to pick up any of the items that appear in your room. From there, head north to the main part of the hallway, then east. Enter the building in the center of the fort, and sit down on either of the vacant seats. You will meet Dervish Thomas and Dervish Jack. They will tell you to deliver a cease-fire to the Sylvians. Before you leave the fort, be sure to go east of the building with the dervishes, into the library section. Go as far north as you can, then into Kazaros' office. There is a secret passage in the northwestern corner. The southernmost tome in that room is readable, the rest will open later. It's also suggested that you go south of where the dervishes are, and in that section is an armory, with plenty of treasure. From there, proceed to go north of the building where the dervishes are, and outside. Go east or west of the Hyperions, and you will meet a camp of Sylvians. If you read Kazaros' tome, then approach them, and they will let you through. If you did not, then you will be forced to fight them, unless you chose "leave". Find your way into the northeastern part of the valley, and you will find a tower fortress. Enter it, and the Sylvians inside will let you in. You will be lead to the general, who will take your treaty, and note that it now says the Empire wishes to ally. You have a choice of what to say. After which, you are escorted out of the fortress. Go back to the dervishes, and they will ask you if you were responsible. You may chose what to say, here. They will then tell you to clear out a way to the Hyperion Citadel. From there, leave the fort, and go to the place where the road begins, and follow it, until a soldier tells you to stop. If you chose to proceed, you will fight 3 long waves of Hyperions. You had better hope you have plenty of potions!
When you return to Fort Lamprey, the dervishes will tell you to re-visit the Sylvians. Do so, and they will take you to their leaders, including the second Mysterious Figure out of two in the game, their leader. You will have another chance to respond at this juncture. You are free to roam the fort, though there is little to do here. Return to Fort Lamprey, and speak with the dervishes. You will be instructed to attack the Hyperion Fort. Enter the fort, and go south. Along the metal wall is a door. Unlock it, and step on the rune. The answer to the questions the rune will ask go as follows:
1) Don Henley
2) Neil Young
3) Deja Vu
4) Pink Floyd, the worst band IN THE WORLD
5) Vince Fizz
6) Hot Rocks
7) Yes
8) Joe Walsh
From there, there is a room with two Artilleries. Do not try to fight these! Run for the nearest window, and look at it. You will be in the air ducts. Proceed down either one, and you will be teleported to the Hyperion General, who is translucent. Surrounding him are 8 Golems. When you have slain all 8 golems, the Hyperion General will materialize. Attacking him before then is useless. Slay the general, and a secret passage will appear for you to escape by. Exit the fort, and go back to Fort Lamprey. At this poinrt, Dervishes Jack and Thomas have been slain. You will be told to assault the Hyperion Citadel. Before you go to the Hyperion Citadel, make sure you've checked Kazaros' tomes! Follow the path into the Hyperion vale, and enter the tower. You will be promptly blasted, and thrown into a cell. 500 or so moves later, someone will blast your northern wall on accident. Use move mountains or shatter on that space, and slay the Hyperion magi on the other side. Do not unlock the door on the western wall- you will be slain if you do. Rather, go north, into the library. There is a small secret passage on the northwestern end. Enter it, and clear your way to the other end. When you open up that secret passage, the other one will close itself. Enter the room, and you will meet the Hyperion Mage. He will raise a few Flame Beasts to combat you, while he completes his ritual. In a few moves, he will summon an intensely dangerous Helios Hyperion. When you slay the Helios Hyperion, the Hyperion Mage will teleport away, and the Helios Hyperion will fade out of existance slowly. If you slay the Hyperion Mage first, then he will teleport out. There is another secret passage on the northwestern wall that appears after you kill the Helios Hyperion. Enter it, and unlock the door to the south. Run to the south, and there will be a stairway in a small room. Climb it to the second floor. At that point, a very large group of Hyperions is already waiting for you. Refuse their demand, and they will fight you- and you will be forced to die. Accept their demand, and they will take you to a small chamber. From there, you can poke around a bit. If you check the door out, you will be notified that there are too many Hyperions for you to escape. After checking that door, return to your room. A golen-armored man calling himself Helios Hyperion will appear, and tell you to escape with his aid. Go back to the door, and you will be in a hallway. Watch the golden-armored man slay the Hyperions, and teleport out. From there, your path is mostly clear. There will be a few stragglers, but not many. Work your way to the southeastern corner, and find a small office. Open the locked door, and find the key in the chest in the bedroom. As you're leaving, a dervish will teleport in, and summon up a flame beast. Kill the dervish, and you will learn it is a demon. Helios Hyperion will teleport in and slay the demon. Go back to the center hallway, and unlock the doors to the south with the key. You will find the Hyperion Mage has completed another summon! It's a Helios Hyperion, but he's impervious to all attacks. The key to his strength is the 4 crystals around him. If you smash those, then the Helios Hyperion will be vulnerable, once again. Slay it twice, and the Hyperion Mage will teleport away. Enter the portal, and you will be on the top level of the citadel. In about 6 moves, Helios Hyperion will teleport in. If the special spells are hurting you, then slay the Hyperion Dervish- one of them will be stopped. Slay the Hyperion Mage, and he will explode with furious energy. Talk to Helios Hyperion, and he will create a portal out. Feel free to take the artifact he drops. When you enter the portal, you will be taken to a hidden cave, where a Mysterious Figure (the first) will battle you. Beware! He absorbs blasts of energy. Wound will damage him, but all other magical attacks will heal him. He has three healing pods on his side that will attack him with blasts of energy, healing him. When you slay the Mysterious Figure, all other creatures will dissapear, and a door will form to the south. Enter it, and there will be a portal. At the other end of the portal is the climax to all the events ocurring in the vale, the final decision of the Sylvians...

Q: What the hell is this?
A: It's a full-screen frame animation I made in less than 6 hours in a rush towards the Omega contest deadline. I did it more to test it out than actually make something worth watching.
Q: Well it's obvious that it's not worth watching, but why do you switch titles?
A: Again, it was made in less than 6 hours, and was rushed for the combat deadline. I'd fix it up if there was anything worth fixing up, but I never really expected to make anything impressive out of this thing.
Q: This makes no sense.
A: Don't worry, you aren't missing out on much. The only point to *this* scenario is that Illithids are waging a war, and if you hadn't picked this up from the other Echoes scenarios so far, then... ...play the other Echoes scenarios. -_-;
Q: Was this even beta-tested?
A: I'm telling you, I made this thing in six hours! No! Stop asking questions.
Graphics were mostly defaults, others by DRK DRAXIS, myself and Brett Bixler.

Echoes: Pawns is a "movie" scenario. What does that mean? It means that there is no combat or interaction (well, some), and it shows the party a series of events that are beyond their control. Any level party may play. This scenario is rated PG, for minimally gory descriptions.
I would like to thank my (semi-) betatester, Imban. I guess a movie doesn't need any testing, but considering he has tested every single other Echoes scenario, I planned to not make this an exception. ;)
I would like to thank the graphics of whos graphics I used:

So you beat it? There are two points where Katothen asks you a question. Answer differently, and you might see something different. Each has interesting information.
I'd apprectiate any constructive criticism, bug reports, or reccomentations you might have. Email me at <terrorsmartyr@wi.rr.com>.
